Cyperus Sedge (Carex pseudocyperus) is a fantastic native plant for boosting wildlife in and around your pond or boggy garden. Its bright yellow-green leaves and gracefully arching stems create the perfect shelter for frogs, insects, and other small creatures, while the soft, bristly flower spikes add texture and movement.
From June to July, it produces delicate creamy-green catkins that darken to bronze in autumn, giving extra seasonal interest.
Though it has a slightly loose, pendulous habit, this well-behaved sedge won’t take over – instead, it slowly forms elegant clumps, adding height and structure to pond margins or damp areas. Just be mindful that it’s a bit too large for very small ponds or containers.

Care Instructions
Plant Cyperus Sedge in reliably moist or boggy soil, or place a potted one in shallow pond water (up to 15cm deep). It’s low-maintenance – just trim dead leaves and spent flowers when needed.
If clumps get too dense, divide them every few years in early spring.
Repotting Instructions
Can also be planted in very wet soil – do not allow to dry out.
9cm marginal plants require potting into a mesh basket. Place in a pond no deeper than 1/3 maximum recommended planting depth to allow the plants to establish.
1ltr marginal plants do not require repotting but will benefit from a bigger basket, there is no need to remove the mesh basket. Place in pond no deeper than 1/2 maximum recommended planting depth to allow the plants to establish. Plants over 60cm height growth will benefit from repotting into a larger mesh basket or should be planted in gravel to prevent them from falling over in a breeze.
3ltr and 5ltr plants do not require repotting; there is no need to remove the mesh basket. Place on the shelf of the pond at the required depth.
