Shoreweed (Littorella uniflora) is a small but mighty oxygenating plant that works wonders for ponds, water gardens, and even aquariums.
Perfect for shallow freshwater areas, this low-growing plant forms a lush, carpet-like mat of green leaves along the pond floor, helping to keep the water clean and oxygen-rich. Though it stays small (with leaves just a few centimetres long), it spreads steadily by sending out runners, creating a natural haven for aquatic invertebrates and providing shelter for spawning fish.
Surprisingly hardy, it can thrive in boggy soil or fully submerged in clear water up to 4m deep – though it’s happiest in shallower depths around 60cm.
A fantastic choice for wildlife-friendly ponds, Shoreweed boosts water quality while adding subtle, natural beauty.

Care Instructions
Shoreweed is incredibly low-maintenance – simply plant it in moist, boggy soil or fully submerge it in clear pond water.
No pruning or special care is needed, making it an easy, hassle-free choice for healthy, wildlife-friendly ponds.
Repotting Instructions
Can also be planted in very wet soil – do not allow to dry out.
9cm marginal plants require potting into a mesh basket. Place in a pond no deeper than 1/3 maximum recommended planting depth to allow the plants to establish.
1ltr marginal plants do not require repotting but will benefit from a bigger basket, there is no need to remove the mesh basket. Place in pond no deeper than 1/2 maximum recommended planting depth to allow the plants to establish. Plants over 60cm height growth will benefit from repotting into a larger mesh basket or should be planted in gravel to prevent them from falling over in a breeze.
3ltr and 5ltr plants do not require repotting; there is no need to remove the mesh basket. Place on the shelf of the pond at the required depth.
